Although its switched on, my gardenvac wont collect?
Ensure that the nozzle is close enough to the leaves/debris. Also make sure that the mode indicator is on the correct setting. A wheel is available to ensure that the vac is used at the appropriate distance from the debris. This also takes load from the user and makes transporting the gardenvac easier.
Will the Gardenvac suck up wet leaves?
We recommend that very wet leaves are not collected. By using the jet vacuum mode a small jet of air lifts wet stubborn leaves from the ground which can then be collected.
What debris will the Gardenvac collect?
The unique design of the Gardenvac means that only lightweight, low density objects such as leaves, empty drinks cans and garden debris will be collected. High density objects such as stones, acorns, sticks will not be collected.
Why do my Gardenvac shredding lines break?
The shredding line is a wearing consumable item and as such frequent impacts with the woody stems of leaves will cause the lines to break over a period of time. Wet leaves coated with soil will increase the wearing process The line will break if it hits a solid object which restricts the rotation of the cutter head such as metal cans or other large lightweight objects e.g. toys.
How do I fit new shredding lines to my Gardenvac?
The shred lines fit into an S-shaped groove in the cutting head inside the Gardenvac. Please refer to your user manual for more detailed instructions.
Can I fit a metal shredding line rather than the plastic shredding lines?
No. Metal shredding line would require a brake mechanism to be fitted to stop the shredding line within 3 seconds and a solid debris bag. These changes would result in the product being heavier and more costly. Gardenvacs have plastic shredding line because it is safer.
My Gardenvac is plugged in and assembled, why will it not switch on?
For safety reasons the Gardenvac is designed to operate only when the debris bag is fitted. Make sure the bag frame is flush alongside the body of the Gardenvac and not loose. This is a safety feature that makes sure that the exposed shredding lines will not turn without the debris bag being fitted. There is a plastic prong on the handle of the debris bag frame, which once the bag is in place, bridges the gap between actuator and switch. Also ensure that it is plugged in, switched on and that the fuse hasn’t blown.
Can I alter the suction power of the Gardenvac?
No. The Gardenvac suction power is governed by the speed of the motor and cannot be altered.
What does “M-Rate” mean?
The M-Rate is the mulching ratio of the Gardenvac. The higher the M rate the more the leaves will be shredded e.g. A 10:1 ratio Gardenvac will reduce the leaves by 10 times the original size. This figure is based on large leaves e.g. Sycamore, some smaller leaves e.g. Oak may not be shredded
What is the main difference between the Gardenvac and the Scirocco?
The Gardenvac uses a “clean fan” system. This means the debris collection is achieved by a diverting the airflow generated by the rotating fan down a chute into the debris bag. Mulching is achieved by a shredding line attached to the motor shaft.
The Scirocco uses a “dirty fan” method of leaf collection. This means that all collected debris has to pass the fan and into the debris bag. The advantage of this is a greater mulching ratio. The disadvantage is that it is more likely to get fan blockage or breakage due to collection of twigs, stones and other debris.
My Scirocco will not switch on
The Scirocco has a safety interlock – the access screw on top near the handle should be turned 5 - 6 times to engage the switch – do not over tighten. Once engaged, you will be able to use the product.
My Flymo Scirocco will not suck OR blow?
If the Scirocco has been working previously but will now not suck or blow any debris, the likely cause will be a blockage. To clear the blockages, open the blockage clearing cap and clear debris using a blunt edged instrument (i.e. a stick). Also, ensure that the mode indicator is in the correct position for the required work.
The mode indicator will not change from suck to blow function?
Try cleaning the slider mechanism as debris may have lodged there.
I’m being covered in dust while using my Scirocco?
There are tiny holes in the collection bag that are necessary for the operation of the Scirocco. These will allow very small particles of dust to pass through.
What debris will the Gardenvac collect?
The Gardenvac is designed to collect lightweight low density leaves however other forms of garden debris can be collected but solid objects e.g. toys, twigs, stones etc should be avoided.
